Donate

Please consider assisting someone less fortunate than yourself by donating the money to fund a bicycle(s), or even just part of a bicycle. We’ll make sure it goes to a worthy recipient; someone whose life will be changed for the better if they can use a bicycle as their new mode of transport.

Or, if you’d like, you can sponsor a bicycle(s) for a specific initiative, project or individual.

While we often get contacted with requests for bicycle donations, if you know of a specific project or initiative that could do with a bicycle(s) being donated to them, we’d like to hear about those too. We want to make sure that the bicycles go where they are most needed. These include various charity and community projects, as well as schools.

A #Bike4All utility bicycle costs R2000 excluding VAT, including a helmet and a small ‘starter kit’ with a bicycle pump, tyre levers and a patch kit.

Sizes: 16″, 18″ and 22″

Bicycles are available for collection in Cape Town. If you would like us to send a bicycle to someone elsewhere in South Africa, we would be delighted to do so. Let’s chat about whether transport can be sponsored or organised, failing which a courier can be found, but then courier costs will apply.

Please contact us for more information.

DONATE TOWARDS A SCHOOLS SAFETY PROJECT

Donating bicycles is the first step. We’d like to make sure the bicycles are well-maintained, and that the person riding the bicycle knows how to ride in a safe and responsible manner. For the kids, this means sending crews out to schools to present the COOL KID ON A BIKE programme. The more crews we can send out, the more schools we can cover. If you can assist by donating funds towards this part of the #Bike4All programme, please let us know. There is no fixed amount – every cent will help.

Both the Pedal Power Association (PBO 18/11/13/2410) and Bicycling Empowerment Network (PBO 930 016 861) are Public Benefit Organisations and donations are tax deductible in terms of section 18A of the Income Tax Act, 1962.

A HAPPY TALE:

“On Wednesday 1 June, our gardener, Khanyiso, took possession of his first bike. Unfortunately, an hour later, 3 thugs with knives robbed him of his coveted possession.
Last night I was contacted by Robert from Pedal Power Association who offered a #Bike4All that was bought and used at Africa Burn, and donated back to PPA for redistribution. It is in fantastic condition, quite fancy and perfectly suits Khanyiso’s needs. The best part was that it was a gift – free. Man was he happy. As am I to report that his first trip home to Mxgenge in Khayalitsha went well and he arrived home safely.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible!”
